  5. the final word. Even his last book, the posthumous 
  6. Laws of Media , although ably completed by son 
  7. and close collaborator Eric, does not constitute 
  8. the scientific summa he had hoped it would. But it 
  9. is precisely the scope of his grand and 
  10. unexhausted vision, and its resonance with recent 
  11. developments, that compels a re-reading in the 
  12. 1990s.
